HAPPY ANOTHER YEAR!

welcome to ought-five, Beefalo enthusiasts! and what a busy time it's been since that last late-breaking news item. . .

as would be expected in these modern times, january of this glorious new year finds the Brothers Beefalo knee-deep in the ever-developing recording of the long-awaited new full-length album, VIVA LOS BEEFALOS!, with more new exciting developments ever-developing at every turn. lucky for all, the alignment of the stars with the moon and the universe's relatively slow pace of growth have allowed the boys to keep their tracking on track, still gearing themselves up for an early april release (no foolin'). so be aware, be wary, and be warned! music has, indeed, been made!

this month also finds the boys back and hard at work onstage, as well. they are now two sundays into their 5-sunday residence at the ever-popular NYC tiki spot, Otto's Shrunken Head, and preparing themselves both mentally and physically for some interesting new venues to round out the pre-release schedule. as always, you can go to the TOURING page for detailed information and the latest performance calendar updates. and for goodness' sake (and your own), GET OUT AND SEE SOME SHOWS! there is an extremely high and entirely unavoidable incidence of ennui in these darkest of winter months. . . nevermind that 9 out of 10 doctors have agreed that there's nothing more depressing than a slew of wonderful new songs reverberating through an empty room. except maybe a small empty room with no doors or windows and a single bare lightbulb hanging from a frayed wire in the center of the room, illuminating nothing for no one. but why would a place like that be on the calendar?

it's been awhile since the last news update, and really all that means is that more has happened since the last post than happened before the post before that, so this update's gonna be a WHOPPER. got it? good.

yes, kids, there is no doubt that VIVA LOS BEEFALOS! is coming along swimmingly, and no one on the team here at unpronounceable central can believe the quality and calibre of the craftsmanship coming out of these new sessions. we're talking about new instruments that none in the Beefalo clan even thought to pick up before now! yes, from the 1948 National New Yorker to the 1948 Hammond Solovox (we'll just call them "the twins" for now), these boys have left no musical stone unturned. in fact, no piece of musical equipment has made it through without either being played, gutted, or blown up. that's progress! and it's all been diligently documented in a new blitz of photographic representations HERE, with the guarantee of more to come!

but with all this heavy machinery and dangerous equipment comes great responsibility, and with great responsibility and attention to detail comes inevitable restructuring of priorities and rescheduling of ultimate goals. . .

that's right, gang-a-roo, THE UNPRONOUNCEABLE has updates. updates on the progress of the new album, along with new sound clips, pictures, and video (yes, we said video) to boot. and all of this new downloadable data can mean only one thing:

RECORDING FOR THE NEW ALBUM HAS BEGUN!

This September 2004, THE UNPRONOUNCEABLE returns to their farmhouse studio to embark on the production of a new album. Anticipating release later this year, VIVA LOS BEEFALOS! will let listeners know what these four fellows have been up to since the release and subsequent re-release of their 2002 EP, ELEMENTARY PHYSICS.

Teaming back up with long-time compatriate and sound-god extraordinaire ROB BADENOCH and new producer TIM FITE, listeners can expect a return to the roots of rock & roll, a ballsy and energetic offering of new material, some of which has yet to see the light of day.

Watch here for further and frequent updates, including pictures, notes, and the occasional audio samples, as they become available.

In the meantime, there is music to be made.

saturday, 3 july 2004 will mark the unpronounceable's final appearance as Frank Wood's Hooternanny back-up band. the much-coveted vacated slot will be auctioned off at christy's on tuesday, 6 july 2004, and the highest bidder will resume the show's schedule in august.

in the meantime, all are encouraged to join the greater metropolitan area at the grande finale performance at the Pussycat Lounge, Greenwich & Rector Sts., New York, NY. the brothers beefalo will take the stage at midnight, followed by a final round of unpronounceablized Hooternanny treats at 1 o'clock in the A.M. appropriated attire is required, at least upstairs.

the unpronounceable would like to thank all who have made the Hooternanny possible and worthwhile in the last year, especially Mr. Frank Wood and the women of the Hooternanny.

we here at unpronounceable are all a-twitter, celebrating the arrival of a new 9 and a half pound baby boy, born to Mr. Chip Beefalo and his lovely wife at 8:23pm on the 3rd of March, 2004 AD. he has been named Ezra Nebuliah Lauri Beefalo (E.N. for short). he is learning to play flugel horn, tambourine, and upright fiddle, and has taken to all with aplomb. his older brother Michelangelo is ever proud of him, and has already shown him how to make an evenly weighted javelin.

as a direct result, the unpronounceable is on paternal (and extended) hiatus for whole of the month of march, but will return to the stage in april.
